Our first contribution comes from Sean, who has enjoyed life to the full and had until recently been in the form of his life. This is his journey so far….Silver Fox Cycling Club – The Road to Recovery
As part of Sean’s recovery he needed to undertake a heart rate threshold test, this helps us understand the degree of training stress that we can apply to ensure Sean is working towards his ‘sweetspot’, going over this threshold is fine, but over long periods in a workout there will be a build up of lactic acid, which is his body’s way of preventing injury. The test consists of a warmup then 20 minutes at a hard pace, then cool down. Based on the average heart rate over the 20 minute period we can calculate Sean’s threshold. The results of Sean’s Heart Rate Threshold test = 166bpm.
